Comprehensive Treatment of Psychiatric Disorders

Psychiatric treatment for children and adolescents
Comprehensive treatment of all major psychiatric disorders
Here at Healing Pathways Medical Clinic we treat all major child, adolescent and adult psychiatric disorders. Our expertise encompasses attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), anxiety disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorder, mood disorders including depression and bipolar disorder, disruptive disorders, autism, reactive attachment disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and other conditions.Approximately 70 percent of the clients we treat at Healing Pathways are children and adolescents who need help. In contrast to traditional clinics, we offer a truly integrative model of intervention that draws upon our broad scope of expertise in conventional and emerging complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) therapies. Our approaches include eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectic behavioral dialogue, traditional psychotherapy, family therapy, hypnotherapy, pharmacotherapy, and complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) therapies that have evidence-based support.

Attainment of health, wellness and a balanced life
The clinic also focuses on practices to maintain health, wellness and a balanced life, using various means. Our recommendations for some clients include Yoga, a mind-body practice with origins in ancient East Indian philosophy. The many styles of Yoga that people use for health purposes typically combine physical practices., breathing techniques and relaxation. Yoga in its full form combines physical postures, breathing exercises, meditation and a distinct philosophy. Yoga is intended to increase relaxation and help attain harmony of mind, body and the spirit.

The numerous schools of Yoga incorporate some of these practices. The two major schools of Yoga that this clinic endorses and practices come from the teachings of Richard Miller, Ph.D., and his Integrative Restoration (iRest®) teachings, and the practices and teachings of Gary Kraftsow, the creator of Viniyoga.

Both of these teachings are based upon the traditional practice of Yoga as taught in the Krishnamacharya lineage, inspired by the teachings of influential modern-era Yoga teacher Sri Tirumalai Krishnamacharya. While in India, Healing Pathways founder Dr. Paul C. Copeland studied Yoga directly under the tutelage of Sri T. Krishnamacharya.

Healing Pathways offers individual as well as group Yoga instruction designed to help participants attain inner peace and a stronger feeling of attachment and integration with friends, family members and physical surroundings.

Healing Pathways also offers treatment of learning and emotional problems and stresses in children with special education needs and psychiatric disorders in children with developmental disabilities, as well as treatment of the adjudicated juvenile sex offender and comprehensive treatment of all major psychiatric disorders.
