Applied Behavior Analysis

Applied behavior analysis

Applied behavior analysis (ABA) is a discipline that is used to identify and rectify undesirable behaviors, as well as a means to teach and reinforce desirable behaviors. Behavior is the activity of living organisms. Human behaviors span the entire gamut of what people do, including thinking and feeling.

Healing Pathways Medical Clinic uses applied behavior analysis to teach socially important behavior patterns to children with developmental and intellectual disabilities; it often is beneficial for children with behavioral and autism spectrum disorders. The science of behavior analysis has also been shown to be useful in treatment of a wide variety of psychiatric problems.

ABA encompasses observation, measurement and analysis. Functional behavioral assessment is a fundamental aspect of the behavior analysis process. The intervention techniques of ABA are effective in improving attention, language and social skills.

Healing Pathways clinicians use repetition, structure and positive reinforcement to stimulate desired responses and behavioral changes.
